AUGUST 12, 1992
Scott Russell and Colin Edwards were pictured on the cover of
Cycle News 30 years ago. Russell won the Superbike class at Mid-
Ohio, and Edwards clinched the 250cc crown... We reported that 1987
World Champion Wayne Gardner was going to retire at the end of
the season... Chris Carr won the Peoria TT for the fifth-straight time...
The opening round of the 500cc MX Championship took place at
Washougal, where Mike Kiedrowski
took the win. Jeff Emig won the
125cc class... We interviewed
motocrosser Donny Schmit.
Ricky Carmichael was featured on the cover 20 years ago. He
still hadn't lost a race outdoors. His latest win came at Washougal,
where his last loss, to Kevin Windham, came one year prior. James
