I
f anyone was still wondering what
had happened to double Mission
SuperTwins champion Briar Bau-
man, they can officially stop worrying.
The factory Indian ace left last
year's Port Royal Half-Mile on a trajec-
tory that would eventually cement him
as one of the sport's all-time greats.
After defeating the legendary Jared
Mees for the 2019 and 2020 crown,
Bauman was well on his way to doing
the same in '21. He exited Port Royal
Speedway with three wins in the sea-
son's previous five races and boasted
a 25-point advantage.
However, he wouldn't claim another
win for the remainder of the season.
And despite finishing on the podium
in six of the year's final eight races,
that fact opened the door for Mees to
steal back the number-one plate with
a furious stretch run.
