ROUND 3 / JUNE 11, 2022 THUNDER VALLEY / LAKEWOOD, COLORADO P68 MOTOCROSS I LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP But once I make a mistake or get passed I kind of find myself again and I charge forward, but I'm going to have to work on not getting out of the flow like that. again. He did look at the posi- tives, though, later on saying he thought that second moto was probably one of his best motos ever, sans the costly mistake. "My starts were very subpar today," Sexton said. "I was prob- ably 10th to 12th both motos so I definitely had my work cut out for me. That first moto the track was really muddy, and I ran out of tear-offs around halfway and was wiping my goggles which was a struggle. But that second moto, minus that last-lap mis- take, was probably one of my best motos of the season." Roczen was thrilled to get the win, his first outdoor victory in over a year. "I'm really happy with how the day ended up," said Roczen. "I'm getting better. I'm not the fastest guy out there, but I'm applying myself and I try really hard to stay in it. It seems like around halfway when I start hitting lappers, I'm just search- ing, and I lose a lot of time. But on the last lap, the un- imaginable happened when Sexton got a little sideways, then got cross-rutted and dropped his bike in what was a slow-speed get-off, allowing Roczen to squirt by and take the moto win a few turns later. Sexton got up quickly and salvaged second, while Tomac took third. Sexton's small crash had big consequences for Tomac, who lost the overall victory because of it. Instead, Roczen's 2-1 edged out Tomac's 1-3. An obviously upset Sexton said after the second moto that he's vowing never to let something like that ever happen MYOWNRACE 32 JUSTIN COOPER 4TH (3-3) 250MX Two moto podiums were only good enough for fourth overall for Jus n Cooper. He showed speed in both motos and con nues to build consistency. "The day was good overall," he said. "We had a consistent day, but the speed wasn't there the whole me. We felt really comfortable towards the end of the moto, which is a good feeling. That's when the track is at its worst, and we were able to feel good pushing. So, that's something to take away from today, but we've really got to start challenging at the front more and be a li le bit more aggressive." Chase Sexton had the second moto wrapped up until he fell on the final lap.
