It was a good night. How about you was 12. I had a [Honda] RS125, working with Pegram. How but it was not too much to speak has he helped you? He's helped us out a lot. Not about. I did a practice day at Jenso much in the last year. We've nings, Florida, and I raced at gotten out of touch a little bit, Nelson Ledges here in Ohio. It's but he's helped me out along the been a few years. So you want to focus on flat way. Whether it's a practice day that we're at… he'll tell me what track? Oh, yeah. Road racing was a to fix, tell me how to go faster or lot of fun and really cool, but I just what to change on the bike, stuff like that, that the older more ex- like the dirt better. You're already pretty tall perienced people know to teach for your age. Are you worried the younger generations. So what do you want to do about getting too big to be a motorcycle racer? in the future with racing? Yes and no. On the little tracks Like I said we are going to start out with a few Pro Singles it can be advantage, on the big races this year. I'm looking to do tracks that horsepower to weight as much as we can and see what ratio comes into play. But then I we can do next year in the overall can look over at guys like Henry and look from there. We'll have Wiles and see how successful to decide from there if I want to they are so I know it's not imposmove up to an Expert and race sible to be bigger… it just gives the Twins, or if it would be bet- you more to work with. Who were your heroes growter to hold back, I mean it's just… ing up racing? we'll have to go from there. Oh, I've always watched Wiles Have you done any road racing? and Chris Carr. I didn't get to see We did a very little bit a few too much of old guys like Jay years ago with Larry. I believe I Springsteen, the old timers, but I've heard a lot about them and seen them around the racetracks and have met them. So where are you in school right now? I'm going to be in the 11th grade this coming year. I'll be a junior. Where do you go to school? I go to school at Licking Valley. Do you have other hobbies outside of racing? Actually, yeah, I pole vault. I run on the track team and pole vault year round. I stay very busy. Do you think your athletic endeavors help you in racing? Oh, definitely. As far as a racing training program, I do a lot of strength training and things, but running track helps with your endurance so much. I'll get arm pump before I get winded. Pole vaulting is a bit dangerous too isn't it? I think it's still safer than racing motorcycles [laughs]. What's your highest vault so far? I've jumped 12-foot in a meet and 13-foot in practice. 13.4 was the cutoff to make state this year. Is that sport a lot about technique? Yeah, it's a lot like flat tracking. Being bigger and strong and faster helps, but in the end it's a lot about your equipment and how you finesse it. CN
