Dungey getting held up in the first
moto and, as a result, only gave
up eight points to his nearest rival
in the 450 Championship.
In the 250 class, GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac had a huge day after winning both motos, while his
number-one rival Red Bull KTM's
Ken Roczen DNF'ed the first
moto after crashing five laps into
the race. Tomac trailed Roczen
by one point going into the race
but left 27 points in lead.
"It's a bummer to see a competitor go down like that, but I've been
there and thrown it away, too, and
that's racing," said Tomac who will
wear the red plate at the next race
at Unadilla in two weeks.

Barcia got things started by
claiming the Motorcycle Superstore.com Holeshot in the first
moto ahead of Canard, Villopoto, Dungey and Stewart. As
they entered the sand whoops
for the first time, Villopoto got out
of shape and was pitched off his
bike in what was a spectacular
