VOL. 50 ISSUE 30 JULY 30, 2013 DESPRES WINS, COMA LEADS ive-time Dakar Rally Champion Cyril Despres got his first win as a Yamaha factory rider in the fourth stage of the Rally dos Sertoes in Brazil on Sunday, the longtime KTM man winning the 82mile stage between Uruacu and Porangatu by 24 seconds over his longtime rival Marc Coma. The rally started on Friday, July 26 and will end on Saturday, August 3. "Today we were rewarded for the months of hard work the team have put in with a first stage victory here in Brazil on the Rally dos Sertoés," Depres said in a team release. "Obviously, it isn't PHOTOGRAPHY BY KTM IMAGES F P33 Cyril Despres won his first rally stage since joining the Yamaha factory team. a Dakar stage victory, let alone an outright Dakar victory, but it is an important milestone on the road to that ultimate ambition and I must admit today's result has a special flavor to it. Not that we have much time to savor it. Tomorrow is the first leg of a particularly tough 900 kilometers [558 miles] marathon stage and we have a lot of work to do, both on man and machine, to make sure we are in good shape for the challenge." Despres may have taken the win in stage four, but it's Coma who continues to lead the rally's overall standings. PHOTOGRAPHY BY PRO HONDA IMAGES BOU CLOSES IN R epsol Montesa HRC's Toni Bou moved closer to securing a seventh straight FIM Trial World Championship when he won both days of the British Grand Prix held at Penrith. This achievement was despite a late scare that saw him need medical attention immediately after Sunday's competition. Bou's teammate Takahisa Fujinami went 2-4 over the two days, while Gas Gas' Adam Raga managed go 3-2 to keep his title hopes alive. On Sunday, Bou crashed and punctured his right lower stomach as he fell heavily onto a sharp rock. Bou's team responded quickly by applying a temporary bandage to stop the flow of blood, and it was enough for him to be able to ride the final sections and to secure the win. A doctor treated Bou immediately after the finish, which prevented him attending the podium ceremony.
