since the Spring Creek track is
literally in his back yard (his family
owns and operates the facility),
started second and moved into
the lead when he passed Hahn
midway through the race.
Series points leader Roczen
was making a move to the front
when he suddenly went down
after tucking the front end of his
KTM heading into a fast sand
sweeper. It was an ugly crash.
He took a handlebar to his chest,
which knocked the wind out of
him, and hit his head pretty hard
on the ground. It took him a while
to recover and eventually got
back on the bike, but knowing
he had no chance of earning any
