ROUND 17 / MAY 7, 2022 RICE-ECCLES STADIUM / SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH P72 SUPERCROSS I MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES MYOWNRACE 27 MALCOLM STEWART 4TH 450SX "The night was great, honestly, and I was riding really good all day," Stewart said. "In the main event, I made a pass for third and got into it with Barcia and he shuffled me back a couple posi ons. I was able to make my way back up and run him down again, all the way to the last lap, but I had a lapped rider in front of me and made a li le mistake. The big goal for us was to end on a high note with third in the series and we accomplished that, so I can't thank the whole team enough for a great year! We've been solid and we've been smooth, so let's take this thing outdoors!" 1 COOPER WEBB 6TH 450SX "Today was a li le bit be er for me and the riding was pre y good. I was able to lead some laps in the heat and ended up second. I got a good start in the main event and it felt good to be up front. I made a few mistakes but I had a good fight all the way to the end. I ended the year healthy and at all 17 rounds, so we'll re-group and get ready for next year and try to go a er a championship." 450SX Jason Anderson did it again. An- other win in Salt Lake City earned him his fourth "W" in a row and the seventh of the season. This is Anderson's career best season as far as wins go, earning more this year than when he won his cham- pionship back in 2018. The num- ber-21 Kawasaki put in a great ride on Saturday night, starting early in the day with the fastest qualifying time. He took the lead early on in the main, again set the fastest time of the race, and clicked off all 26 laps in the top spot. His main rival this season, Eli Tomac, did not suit up for the final, opting to give his injured knee a rest before the upcoming outdoor Nation- als starts in a few weeks, but Anderson left no doubt that he's going to be a serious threat for the 2023 Supercross title. Anderson claimed second in the 2022 Su- percross Championship, just nine back from Tomac. "Personally, it's huge for me to be in the position I'm in and to have the momentum I have," Anderson said. "To be honest, over the past few years you get insecure, and you don't know if you've got it. It's tough whenever you struggle. Being right here I'm thankful but at the same time I just want to keep progressing and be able to come back next year, and I really want to make some more runs at a champion- ship, and I think I've got it in me." Chase Sexton put in a quiet ride to earn another second-place fin- ish. Sexton has turned his results Chase Sexton (23) had another solid race, landing second.
