In preparation for next season, Hale plans to train throughout the winter aboard a 125cc motocross bike. "I used to practice On 250s and 500s, but I thought I'd try a 125 this year. And speaking of Dee Ann Wood, the Women's National 250cc MX Champion suffered a broken left arm and wrist in a crash at the Florida Winter, National Olympics over the'Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Two-time Grand National Champion Ricky Graham underwent surgery on November 23 to re-plate the middle finger on his left hand. Graham suffered the broken finger at the season-opening Daytona Short Track in March and originally had the finger rebroken and plated in late September. "It didn't heal right and it was pretty ugly," said Graham. In the second surg.ery, doctors removed the original metal plate and inserted a new one in a different position. A bone graft was taken from Graham's wrist to fill the holes left by the first plate, and Graham will be in a cast for approximately two weeks. "I can't wait to start training for next season," said Graham. "I'm getting a new motocrosser next week and I'm going to be pumped and ready for Daytona." Ricky Graham, who finished third in the '92 Grand National Championship Series, will team up with fellow northern Californian Brett Landes, winner of the Castle Rock TT 600cc Junior National, for the '93 season.
