Larry Ward (Suz) and Jeremy McGrath (Hon) rounded out the top three on Friday, while Bayle and Ward were second and third, respectively, on Saturday. Ward finished third behind Bayle and Stanton on Sunday. Doug Henry (Hon) was dubbed Prince of Bercy for his overall win in the 125cc support class at Paris. Henry won the first two nights, and finished fourth on Sunday to wrap up the overall win. Frenchmen Mikael Pichon (Hon) and Cyril Porte (Hon) were second and third, respectively, on Friday, while newly-crowned 125cc World Champion Greg Albertyn (Hon) and Buddy Antunez (Hon) rounded out the top three on Saturday. Antunez earned Sunday's win, ahead of Albertyn and Jimmy Button (Suz). Mike Healey (Suz) was the 125cc Pro class winner at the final round of the GFI Fall MX Series South at Perris Raceway in Perris, California, November 15. Dana Wiggins (Hon) finished second, and Derek Natvig (Kaw) was third. Shaun Kalos (Yam) was the 250cc Pro class winner, ahead of Donald Upton (Yam) and Cory Keeney (Kaw). After being named winner of the 1992 Mickey lllompson Award of Excellence, Guy Cooper said that he was surprised that he had won. "I didn't even know I was in the hunt," said Cooper, who is obviously well-liked by his fans, as evidenced by louder-thanusual applause whenever his name is announced at Camel Supercross Series events. ''I'm kind of surprised, but I think it's really neat. I think they like me because I always try my hardest and give the fans what they want and come to see." Motocros~ers Jeff Dement and Chad Pederson have signed to ride for By Ferracci Ducati team owner Eraldo Ferracci, it is likely that the two-time tion is for him," Ferracci said. Brooks and Kalos will concentrate on the AMA 250cc National Championship MX and Camel Supercross Series, as well as the MTEG Ultracross series. Lewis will campaign the AMA 125cc West Coast Supercross Series, AMA 125cc Nationals and the MTEG Ultracross series, while Thomson will concentrate solely on the Ultracross series. Kawasaki-Suzuki in Kingsport, Tennessee, suffered fatal injuries in an automobile accident on November 12. Eads was involved in MX since the early '70s, first as a racer and then a sponsor. Jerry Aleman and Shaun Perolio have signed on as the two factory mini pilots. will become a monthly publication effective with .the March 1993 issue. The magazine debuted earlier this year as a bi-monthly publication. "Things are going well and we have had lots of requests from our readers to do this," said publisher Don Emde. "Rather than do what some books have done with the 6-to-9-to-12 approach, we decided to jump into the deep end of the pool and let 'er rip," said Emde. Not only did the Hamel/Ostbo/Sweetland team finish ahead of all the motorcycle team entrants, they also beat the four-wheel vehicle division winner, a Class I truck driven by Paul and Dave Simon, by three minutes and 13 seconds. The Simon brothers averaged 61.165 mph. Larry Roeseler and Ted Hunnicutt Jr., who won the event last year, teamed with Greg Zitterkopf on a Kawasaki KX500 but failed to finish; their bike seized approximately 50 miles into the race. As expected, California's newly elected Democratic Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer say they'll work for early passage of a desert bill that calls for an increase in park and wilderness areas in the southern California desert. "The desert bill should get passed as soon as possible. and hopefully signed by the new president," Feinstein told the Riverside (California) Press-Enterprise. Boxer said, "At the moment we have the opportunity, we will act on that in the Senate."
