When the field rounded the first tum Ferry was at the helm, with Derek Youngblood, Travis Blackburn, Andrew Despain and Ryan Dean in pursuit Youngblood bobbled on the first lap, moving Blackburn and Despain by. Boyesen/RRP/ F ox/Bell/Sco tt/E K/Y okoham a/ I 00% KarCher-backed Ferry had pulled out to a huge lead. Ferry. took the first-moLO vicLOry over Youngblood. Blackburn jumped out to an early lead to start the second moto, as Ferry, Youngblood, J.D. Vangilder and Dean looked on. Ferry and Youngblood knocked Blackburn back to third in the second turn, as Dean jumped by Vangilder. Ferry pulled out a couple of seconds on Youngblood, until Ferry jumped too far down one of the many hills on the track and overshot the followin~ turn. Youngblood took advantage of the sltuation and Ferry quickly got back on the track and tried to reclaim the lead.· After two laps of pressuring Youngblood, Ferry slipped by when Youngblood's back wheel drifted over a berm, killing his traction. Transue tramples Washougal MX By Don Schneider WASHOUGAL, WA, ocr. 17 MSR/Hillsboro Honda/DeVol Racing/Race Tech-backed Forrest Transue wreaked havoc in the I25cc Intermediate and Before The Hill classes in the season finale at Washougal MX . Park. In moLO one of the BTH class, Shane Heberlein pulled the holeshot with a two-bike length lead over Transue. Dave Lahn, Cory Bauder and Jason Bydnick followed close behind. Transue quickly moved into the lead halfway into lap one. Once in front, Transue began to establish a commanding pace that carried him to a plus-20-second win. Heberlein and Lahn fought over second place the entire moLO, with Heberlein securing the position at the finish. Moto two saw Transue grab a rare holeshot and walk away LO a 30-second win. Bauder had better luck in the second moLO and flew LO a second-place finish. Transue's perfect II moto finishes netted him tbe overall victory, with Heberlein's 2-3 ~ng him second overall. The 125cc Intermediate class' first moto holeshot went to Johnny Williams. Bauder and Transue were bot on his heels. Nick Hansen held fourth over David Myers, Tim Holas and Josh True. Williams held the lead for three laps before experiencing bike problems and retiring with a seized bottom end. Transue had troubles with Bauder, but took over the lead position at the halfway signal and gradually pulled out a comfortable lead to the checkers, Bauder crossed the line in second place. Moto two's holeshot belonged to Heberlein, followed by Bauder, Transue, Myers and True. Once again, Bauder took over the lead position on lap two, with Transue following him by Heberlein to nab second place. Transue made a bonzai pass through the whoops on lap three and took over the lead for good. Bauder main·tained second place to the Checkers. Transue's perfect 1-1 tally netted him the overall win. Ramsey rips at Pro Sport MX By Barbara and Loren Williams WYTHEVILLE, VA, ocr. 11 Mark IV-backed Nathan Ramsey overcame both the weather and the competition in the 125 and 250cc B classes at Pro Sport MX's last race of the season. Tim Hodock grabbed the lead from holeshot-artist MitChell Hodge in the second l25cc B moto and hauled until the slick tunnel jump jerked the tires out from under him. First-moto·winner Ramsey passed Hodock LO lead the way for the rest of the race. Hodock recovered nicely to finish second behind Ramsey, after providing some exciting racing as he and Hodge argued over the position. In the first round of 125cc A competition, Kevin Walker slid into the lead when Mike Brown fell on the back section. Holding his YZ wide open, Walker came up quickly on the 125cc B lappers. When Brown caught up on the last lap, the pair came up on a B rider, who moved to one side of the track to allow the front-runners past. Unfortunately, he moved to the side of the track that Walker had already committed too. Brown breezed by, while Walker was delayed enough to deny him access to Brown. The slippery' conditions also frustrated Walker in the second moto. Breathing down Brown's neck, Walker was in position to make a bid for the lead at the first opportunity, but the tunnel jump slid Walker's rear wheel out from under him. Momentum carried Walker over the jump, but off the track, and he circled to re-enter the circuit where he had exited, as required. Almost immediately upon reentry, Walker's mud-packed rear wheel slid out again, dumping him directly in front of Todd Bennick. Though Bennick avoided the downed rider, the delay in his pursuit of Brown was costly and kept Bennick in second for the rest of the race. Walker remounted in third, which he maintained to the finish. R.esults 50 STK: I. Logan Tate (Yam); 2. Todd Johnston (Yam). 50 MOD: I. Brandon Puckell (Yam); 2. Mall Boyer (Hon). 65 7-11; I.
