Reynard rocks Lake Whitney MX By Kat Spann WHITNEY, TX, OCT. 4 Team Green/Fox/Scott-backed Robbie Reynard topped the 250cc All-Star and 250cc Expert classes at the first round of the Top Texan Series at Lake Whitney Cycle Ranch, where 261 riders turned out to wage battle. Clint Latham holeshot moto one of the 125cc All-Star class and held the lead in front of Brian Rister, Roy Schellenberger, Jason Krempin, Dennis Bonner and Reynard. Rister was absent from the front of the pack as the riders shot off Chuck Sun Hill. Schellenberger and Krempin were in front, with Reynard in the third spot. The first time through the new backward section of the track, Reynard shot past Krempin in a sweeper. Reynard then passed Schellenberger on the inside after a tabletop. His lead was short-lived, as he fell victim to a broken chain that kept him out the rest of the race. Rister rallied from dead-last on lap one to work his way up to a fourth place behind Krempin. Krempin had slid back to third behind Lathan and Schellenberger after Reynard's misfortune. The positions remained the same to the checkered flag. Moto two came off the line with Schellenberger in the lead and Clint Latham in second. Reynard passed Latham in the tower sweeper for second place and charged after Schellenberger for the lead. Schellenberger ended the first lap in front, but Reynard dogged his every move, looking for a place to pass. As they entered the tower sweeper, Reynard blasted past the leader on the outside line, taking the lead halfway through lap two. Brian Rister held his own in fourth place until he was challenged by both Jason Krempin and Brian Carlson. This three-rider battle for fourth place continued through the white flag, when Krempin took over the position and held it to the finish. The overall went to Schellenberger, with Latham second. Reynard finished a respectable ninth out of the field of 18 in spite of his first moto DNF. The 250cc All-Star class saw Terry Tinney charge off the gate into the first turn with Robbie Reynard breathing down his neck. Team Green/F<1x RacinglBell/Scott-backed Reynard took charge early in the race when he smoothly passed Tinney in the first turn. Reynard set the pace in front and left the battle for second to Tinney and Schellenberger. Schellenberger stuck to Tinney for three laps before making a clean pass for· second and holding on for the remaining two laps. Moto two was a repeat of the first, as Tinney shot off the gate again for the lead, only to lose it to Reynard in the dogleg of the first turn. Schellenberger followed Reynard by Tinney to nab second place. The rest of the moto was like watching paint dry, as Reynard pulled ahead of Schellenberger and Tinney to take the moto win again for first overall. 4520 107th Street S.W. • Mukilteo, WA 98275· 1-800-722-3336 ;fA~ .....••• OEM..FAcrORY TEAMs & TRUCkS PLUS DisplAys fRoM SpoNSORS••• ~ DUN.£OP IIO/NC To THE FIITlIIE r"YT'\-a::tbn __ .zo_ r:::--v~. ~~ ~;"A$J~~~~ .([ffi]lil1ijj ~~~o Come Enjoy this Festive Season with· the World Sports Family!.
