Dungey Set For Motocross Return T hirty-two-year-old Ryan Dungey announced that he is coming out of retirement to compete in the first two rounds of the 2022 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Fox Raceway (Pala, California) and Prairie City SVRA (Hangtown, Sacramento, California). Dungey retired in 2017 right after winning the 450cc Super- cross Championship, and his last race outdoors came the year be- fore after suffering a neck injury at Thunder Valley. The four-time AMA National Motocross Cham- pion has talked about coming out of retirement before but this time it's not just talk. The announcement comes a week after nine-time World Motocross Champion Antonio Cairoli said that he's coming out of retirement to race the first two rounds, as well. Both riders will be riding for their previous Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Teams, and Dungey won't be the old- est rider on the team—Cairoli will have that honor by four years on Dungey. "I'm really excited about the opportunity to race the first couple rounds of the outdoors for Red Bull KTM," Dungey said. "I've had a lot of success with KTM in my most recent years of racing and it's exciting to go back and race for the same team with a lot of great personnel. I have a lot of trust with the team, which breeds confidence sitting on the line knowing I have good people behind me, and we've got a great dirt bike underneath us. This is a stacked class and it's been a long time since I've been on the line with them, but I'm excited to be back on the gate.
