The second moto again saw Dean pull the holeshot with Bone, Smith, Brent Ramsey and Eric Pinson behind. Bone and Smith fought for second with Smith takirig the position, but Dean was already gone. . The third and final moto looked to be a Dean/Smith battle until Dean fell and Smith plowed into him. Cozadd took the lead with Ramsey in his roost. At the halfway point, Ramsey slipped by a fallen Cozadd, as Smith moved into the top five. Smith quickly motored into second and pressured Ramsey. Smith then out-jumped Ramsey on the tabletop and never looked back. .Smith took the overall, as Dean placed lOth, in the final moto. Results +25: I. Alan Andreu (Han); 2. Kevin Foley (Kaw); 3. Faria dominates Speedway USA ByM. Sober VICTORVILLE, CA, JUNE 27 . . National Chaml?ion "Flyin'" Mike Faria made his first Visit to Victorville in nearly three weeks a memorable one as he dominated both the Scratch and Handicap sides of the program. In the Handicap por:tion, Faria was able to make excellent use of the newly-returned 22-inch rear wheel. Because of his proficiency on the larger drive tire he was moved from the 50-yard line to the 60 for the Handicap main, but Faria still dominated the proceedings from start to finish. Faria put his rear tire on the dirt line and drove his A-I Plank! Russell Racing/Shoei/OilzaU Weslake around the rest of the field and on to the checkered flag. Brant was also in the race, but fell down next to the wall trying to one-up Faria with two laps to go. The 'two veteI';lns put on a show as they sailed on the outside past the other four riders with relative ease. Second went to John Aden, who started from the 30-yard line. In the Scratch main event Faria started out of position two. Chris Manchester had the pole but could not get out of the blocks as fast as Faria or Steve Lucero, who began the Hanes Beefy-Tor Oneita Power-T 100% Cotton/ Pre-Shrunk Quality Shirts • 2-Color Logo on Reverse Side (Except MX) race to the right of Faria in '¥lte three. As the three inside riders packed It close to the inside line, Sc;ott Brant rode in the thick dirt, quickly moving around Manchester and then Lucero. Manchester then dropped off the groove to chase Brant, but had to settle for fourth place. By the time Brant had moved free of Lucero and Manchester there was no way, barring mechanical difficulties, that anyone could catch the dialed-in Faria. Brant stayed outside and held on to the second-place money. -"EYE OF THE STORM" MX (M, L, XL) -WAYNE RAINEY (5, M, L) -JOHN KOCINSKI (5, M, L) -"DREAM TEAM" (RAINEY & KOCINSKI) (L) -EDDIE LAWSON (5, M, L) '~~Alijl -KENNY ROBERTS "LEGENDS" (M, L, XL, XXL) ~ -TEAM SUZIKI ENDURANCE (L) . ~z -RICH OLIVER (M, L) ~ Results Also: ROBBIE PETERSEN (M, XL) & MICK DOOHAN (M) SCRATCH: I. '92 SAN JOSE MILE A.M.A. CAMEL PRO SERIES PROGRAM (48 PG.) $4.00 soe By Jack. Hanson HOWARD LAKE, MN, JUNE 27 Peter Hook ouuan his Donahue HarleyDavidson teammate, Tony Donahue, and the rest of the field to cruise to a deceptively easy win of the AMA-sanctioned Open Pro main on the Wright County Fairgrounds hall mile din oval. , Hook led all but the first lap, which Bill Hofmeister took after a great start on his Rotax. Hook however, blasted by on the second lap and was not seriously challenged thereafter, leaving the dicing to Hofmeister, Donahue, Blake Ehrichs and Randy Triplett, who were hotly contending for the second through fourth spots. On lap three, Triplett took fourth from Erichs. On the next go 'around, Donahue grabbed second from Hofmeister. On lap five, Triplett passed Hofmeister and Jim Sumner got by Ehrichs. The final lO laps were a parade of Hook, Donahue, Triplett, Hofmeister and Sumner. Meanwhile, back in the dust, Don Paul andKirt Boehlke had managed to get by Ehrich,s and grab the last two money paying positions. Hook rejoined Donahue, Hofmeister,. Sumner, Paul and Rob Soat for the five-lap invitational cash dash. Hofmeister led the first lap, but Hook took over and ran away from the field. Hofmeister held on to second, leaidng a parade of Donahue, $oat, Sumner and Paul to the finish. Teenagei' Mike Hoh ran away with the eight-lap 250cc Amateur final aboard his Suburban Cycle Center-sponsored Honda. Hoh out-dragged all starters into turn one and the second-place bike slipped further back with each succeeding lap. Tim Gregory held second for the first two laps. On lap three, Tim Zemanovic passed Gre~ory and held second to the end.
