30 Years Ago MAY 6, 1992 Doug Polen, who was shown on the cover of Cycle News 30 years ago, out-dueled Scott Russell for the AMA National Superbike win at Laguna Seca. Jimmy Filice won the 250cc GP race and Mike Smith won the AMA/CCS 600cc Supersport class... Jean-Michel Bayle won the Las Vegas Supercross which launched him back into the championship lead. After the race, Team Yamaha's Doug Dubach filed a protest against Team Honda's Bayle and Jeff Stanton for using illegal frames and swingarms... Mick Doohan won the Malaysian Grand Prix. VOLUME 59 ISSUE 17 APRIL 26, 2022 P143 Honda riders Colin Edwards and Makato Tamada split wins at the World Superbike round at Sugo, and Honda riders Tohru Ukawa, Valentino Rossi and Loris Capirossi went 1-2-3 at the Grand Prix of Africa. Plus, Honda riders Ricky Carmichael and Travis Preston won the Dallas Supercross in the 250cc and 125cc classes... Jason Raines topped the GNCC/Hare Scrambles National at Loretta Lynn Ranch... Doug Dubach won the Four-Stroke World Championships at Glen Helen... Ty Davis topped the National Hare & Hound in Springville, Utah.
