[Jason] Anderson wasn't able to get me in that second moto. I know he was putting pressure on me, and I actually put a gap on him and I was able to ride my own race and win the second moto, which was just amazing." This win comes at perhaps the most crucial time in Musquin's career. Not only is he in the final year of his Red Bull KTM con- tract, which is a Supercross-only deal, but his other two team- mates were out with injuries in St. Louis (Aaron Plessinger re- covering from a broken arm and Cooper Webb having crashed earlier in the week). This put Musquin as the sole factory orange 450, serving as the team leader, if you will. With a new 450SX Musquin earned the 450SX overall with the most consistent finishes of the night. His 2-1-2 scores bested the competition. The win is big enough in its own right but doing it on one of the most technical tracks of the season is another noteworthy achievement. "I had no choice, I had to skim the whoops, which is funny because this week we worked on jumping whoops and it was amazing," Musquin said. "I went for it and just tried to be con- sistent. Usually that's a section where I'm losing some time, which I did again today, but I was pretty consistent, and a guy like ROUND 13 / APRIL 9, 2022 AMERICA'S CENTER / ST. LOUIS MISSOURI P70 SUPERCROSS I MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES MYOWNRACE 3 ELI TOMAC 3RD (4-4-1) 450SX "It was a good day and another good night for the championship points," Tomac said. "It was hard-fought in the first two motos, because I didn't put myself with the lead group, so I was stuck behind in both of those first two. That was a li le bit frustra ng, but we never gave up, and then in the third moto, I got a really good holeshot and rode much be er and found good lines on the track. It was a very tech- nical track this week. It was a li le bit of a slower track and a steeper track, so it was just a different feeling." 51 JUSTIN BARCIA 5TH (5-5-4) 450SX "I had a good prac ce going, I qualified fi h and I was really happy with that," Jus n Barcia said. "I had that weird crash on press day, which kind of threw me off a li le bit, and I was pre y s ff all day but I pushed through it. I wasn't comfortable in the main events, I struggled to get a flow and never felt like myself, which is disap- poin ng because I really enjoy this track and stadium." Marvin Musquin captured his first win (overall) of the year. Eli Tomac saw his five-race win streak come to an end, but he wasn't too disappointed because he added on to his already substantial points lead.
