after drafting past polesitter Doug Polen at the finish. Russell was pictured
on the cover... Jeff Stanton won the Daytona Supercross for the fourth
consecutive time. Brian Swink won the 125cc class... Chris Carr kicked
off the AMA GNC/Camel Pro Series with a win at the Daytona Short Track...
Joey Hopkins was the big winner
at the Alligator Enduro... Tommy
Hayden and Kenny Coolbeth Jr.
were some of the winners at the
Daytona Amateur Short Track.

Sportbikes filled the cover of Cycle News 20 years ago with our Yamaha
R1, Kawasaki ZX-12R and Honda RC51 test bikes... We featured an
interview with road racer John Hopkins... Shane Esposito was the
big winner at the Adelanto Grand Prix... We covered the one of the
first indoor off-road races ever, which was held in Barcelona. Finland's
Juha Salminen took the win in front of 11,000 spectators... Arnaud
Demeester won the Le Touquet Beach Race in France.
