ROUND 8/JULY 20, 2013
WASHOUGAL MX PARK/WASHOUGAL, WASHINGTON
MOTOCROSS
P58
LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS SERIES
Villopoto, however, also came
into the race with a healthy lead
in the championship title chase
over Ryan Dungey, and leaving
Washougal with anything less
than a win would be pure disappointment.
Adding to Villopoto's dilemma
was the fact that Dungey was on
a five-race win streak at the facil-
ity, including two wins in the 250
class and the last three 450-class
races. After his moto-one DNF at
the previous round at Red Bud,
the Red Bull KTM rider would
most certainly be going for broke
in an effort to get back into the
points chase.
Even Villopoto admitted it was
going to be a tough race.
"Growing up, I lived just three
hours up the road and I always
struggled at this track," said Villopoto. "I raced Josh Hill a lot at
this track and he beat me more
times than I beat him."
Yet, after a somewhat discouraging start, Villopoto beat the
odds and Dungey to claim his first
long-awaited win at Washougal.
