ROUND 7 / FEBRUARY 19, 2022 U.S. BANK STADIUM / MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA P58 SUPERCROSS I MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES eron McAdoo] were riding really well and keeping me honest, and I felt like it was a really good race. I had a good flow, and the track was really gnarly, but really chewed up and it could cost you with any slight mistake, especially with that long rhythm where we were three-ing in. The East is again stacked with talent but all eyes were on the young phenom Jett Lawrence. Fans finally got to watch Lawrence take to the track after a preseason crash delayed his 2022 campaign in what would have been a bid for the 250SX West title. Lawrence looked fast but he didn't exactly set the world on fire early in the day. A fourth in qualifying and a second in the heat race proved promising but almost "under the radar" for the flashy Australian. When the gate dropped for the main event, however, Lawrence came alive. He started in second just behind Austin Forkner and quickly went to the lead after just one lap. The Honda rider rode flawlessly and went on to lead the remaining 19 laps, taking the opening win of the series. "I was just trying to manage it," Lawrence said. Highly touted amateurs like Jett Reynolds, Levi Kitchen and Hunter Yoder were hopeful for good results in Minneapolis. For Reyn- olds, a crash on press day on the Thursday before the race resulted in a wrist injury that would spoil his Saturday-night debut. Yoder would qualify for the night show but didn't make it out of the LCQ. Kitchen had the best showing with a ninth in the 250SX main event. VOHLAND CRASHES OUT It was a tough start to the 250SX East Regional Championship for Max Voh- land, who suffered a race-ending crash on the opening lap of the main event. Vohland qualified fifth in the heat race and ended up going down in the first turn with multiple riders hitting him while on the ground. Banged up, Vohland made the decision to get checked out by the medical staff on-site, ending his race before the completion of the first lap. The initial x-ray did not show any broken bones, but Vohland plans to get a second opinion when he returns home this week. Briefly... Jett Lawrence kicked off the 250SX East Championship with a solid win.
