result, Tomac fell on the face of
a triple jump, dropping to 20th
in the process. With Anderson
winning and another sixth place
for Tomac (he was also sixth at
Anaheim 1), only three points
separate the two title rivals with
Tomac still leading.
Minneapolis proved to be a
tough night for the points leader,
Tomac. A 12th-place start put
him deep in the pack, subjecting
him to the chaos that comes with
it. Tomac tangled with teammate
Dylan Ferrandis, who had gotten

on this track, so it came down to minimizing

6 JEREMY MARTIN
4TH 250SX EAST
Jeremy Mar n rode a quiet race in the
250SX main event. The fourth-place result
was certainly be er than last year's as he
crashed out with injury at round one. "I'm
leaving here, and I'm healthy. The track was
good in the end. From media day to the
main, I was like, 'Wow, what a difference!'
Everything was pre y peaky and wasn't very
smooth, so it just felt very foreign out there,
and I was struggling. For the main, though, I
got a be er start, and I was definitely riding
be er—driving into my rhythms and my
turns—but it just wasn't enough. I made
some mistakes out there, and I'm not happy
about that, but I also reflect on last year's
season opener, which was bad."
24 RJ HAMPSHIRE
5TH 250SX EAST
"We're out of here pre y healthy and I
feel good on the bike," RJ Hampshire said.
"All three of us were just kind of riding and
we couldn't really make up any me in the
main. They were pulling me in the whoops,
and then I was gaining it back everywhere
else. The mid-part of the main was my
downfall, I had to back it down and figure
some things out for five or six laps."
