what we are capable of on the
track during a main event with a
good start and that two bikes on
the podium is what we can do."
The French rider also credited
changes to his bike settings
that have benefited his riding,
improving each week since the
series opener. His 16th-, sixth-
and third-place finishes move
him to 10th overall in the points,
just 14 back from Tomac.
While many riders reeled in
their season-best finishes, oth-

for the rest of the 450 field.
Dylan Ferrandis finally looked
like the rider so many picked
as a pre-season favorite. The
number-14 Star Racing Yamaha
rounded out the podium, tak-
ing third behind his teammate
Tomac. Ferrandis showed speed
early in the day, qualifying second
and being one of only two riders

BARCIA VS BOGLE
Chaos on the track resulted in
penalties off the track for both Justin
Barcia and Justin Bogle. The red-
plate holder Barcia placed what the
AMA considered an overly aggres-
sive move on Bogle early in the main
event. Bogle even got off his bike
and hobbled in pain before restarting
his Suzuki. Later in the race he retali-
ated while being lapped by Barcia.
The number-51 crashed off the track
as the 19-bike continued. Barcia
crossed the line eighth but was
docked one spot, officially finishing
ninth. This dock drops him to fourth
in the standings. Bogle received
a disqualification for his retaliatory
move.
HAMMAKER OUT,
SWOLL IN
After two podiums to kick off the
2022 season, Seth Hammaker did
not line up for Saturday night's race.
A midweek practice crash left him
with a grade-three spleen laceration
and two compression fractures in
his back. Jalek Swoll, on the other
hand, crashed out of A1 and sat out
round two in Oakland. The Husqvar-
na rider returned to action in San
Diego and finished solidly in seventh.
SAVATGY OUT FOR
THE SEASON
Joey Savatgy openly spoke about
a torn ACL he suffered before
Oakland. He lined up again in San
Diego but another crash on the start
reaggravated the already-injured
knee and retired him from the night.
The Rocky Mountain KTM rider an-
nounced via Instagram that this crash
was "the final straw" and that he has
decided to get his knee fixed.
