ROUNDS 7-8/JULY 13-14, 2013 MID-OHIO SPORTS CAR COURSE/LEXINGTON, OHIO AMA SUPERBIKES P82 AMA NATIONAL GUARD SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP Herrin (2) leads Hayes and Cardenas in race one, but Hayes would find a way past to take the victory – his fifth in a row. nas? Mid-Ohio won't be an event he writes home about. Even with his pair of third-place finishes, the Yoshimura Suzuki rider who led the standings coming into the weekend left Ohio in third. Cardenas is nothing if not a realist. When asked if he thought his team could find anything to narrow the gap between his factory Suzuki and the Yamahas, he simply shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know. A rider who has done well at Mid-Ohio in the past, Hayden was looking forward to running with the leaders at the technical circuit and he did until things went wrong in both races. In Saturday's race he ran into tire problems - something a number of riders experienced on the weekend – and from about halfrace fell back to eighth. On Sunday Hayden again was battling Yamaha On Sunday, Hayes (1) held the lead over Herrin (2) and Hayden (54) on the racetrack, but not in timing and scoring after being penalized five seconds for jumping the start.
