Stoner's First
•Australian Casey Stoner rides his Marlboro Ducati
to a dominating victory, ending Nicky Hayden's twoyear win streak in his home GP.
•Hayden and John Hopkins collide in turn two on
the first lap – Hopkins crashes and Hayden runs into
gravel trap, ruining his race.
•Suzuki's Chris Vermuelen finishes second with
Marco Melandri passing Valentino Rossi late in the
race to finish third.
•Bridgestone tires ruled the day as Michelins struggled.
Rossi was the top Michelin user in fourth place.
•Roger Lee Hayden rides as a wild card entry and
finishes in the top 10.
