e I-Oregon·Washington-ldaho-Utah-Alaska Jerry took a tumble that put him in the DNF column also. Lance Coleman took advantage of the situation for a first in moto one and settled for second in moto two behind Wayne Archer. Alan Silhanek took the honors in the 125cc Pros with a 1-1. Alan holeshot the first moto and took a good lead through the grass section, but down the double jumps, Eddie Minton's new Honda began to close the gap. Ed grabbed the lead and hit the berm on the very next turn, going down and giving the lead back to Silhanek, now being followed closely by Mike Johnson andJon Nelson. Mark Hearns worked his way to second, but losdt on the last lap to Johnson. Results VET: ,. Paul Bostrom (Hon). 125 PRO: 1. Alan Silhanek(Suz); 2. Mark Hearns (Yam). 250 INT: ,. Within the inside domains of factory racing their names are household terms. When they speak factories and racers listen Though intense competitors, they agree on two secrets to racing success; the best in preparation and the best in lubricants-Maxima Racing Lubricants. The racing was fast paced today in Sprockets Park as the riders prepared themselves for the Dec. 12 opening round of the AME .... 7' EXPERT TALK By Mike Johns BAKERSFIELD, CA, DEC. 5 (l, ~CASTOR LUBRICANTS lA~ rl.\\A ~ resealrcl j MX Grapevine Challenge Series, pitting the North against the South. Some of the best riding of the day was seen in the 125cc Junior class. In moto one, Mike Hukill nabbed the holeshot on the newly re-designed course. In hot pursuit were Tom Holt, Ke\;'in McCrory and Mickey Elsberry. Holt crashed in the back section leaving Hukill alone with McCrory and Elsberry left to battle for second. But this was only temporary as "The Butcher" Holt made an incredible charge from behind. Holt moved past McCrory and Elsberry and began reeling in Hukill. Holt closed in and, with one corner left, dove inside, drifted outside to get the drive and swept by Hukill at the flag for the win. McCrory held off Elsberry for third. In moto two, it looked like are-run ofthe first race. Hukill, Holt, McCrory and Elsberry freight-trained down the front straight. Holt got off at the wrong stop in the back section again, leaving Hukill to pull away. Elsberry slipped by McCrory with a clean, inside line, to take over second. Holt then out-classed the riders in every way by catching up and with three laps left, moved around Elsberry and McCrory to take over second. With two laps left, Hukill and Holt squared off on the front straight. Holt got the drive and by the end of the stadium jump, he had the lead. The overall went Holt, Hukill, Elsberry and McCrory. The 250cc Junior class had Matt Branch to contend with. Branch racked up impressive back-to-back wins for the overall with Kawasaki rider Steve Monger going 2-2 for second.
