with Robinson and Curoso at the end of two rounds. Bast's luck changed in race nine as he broke the tapes and was excluded. Curoso stayed perfect as he defeated Chris Reichardt (Gene Plues Godd) after an early duel in race 10. Mike Faria (Shoei/Hi-Point Jaw) had seemingly put the first chink in Robinson's armor in race 11 when he led from the gate until turn four on ttte final lap, when he flew through the bales and let Robinson record his third win. "Dangerous" Dubb Ferrell (Arai/ Vera's Jaw), the pre-race favorite, finally put a halt to Robinson's win skeen by holding off the Salinas rider over the first two laps and winning by a half straightaway in race 13. Bast trailed his house guest, Reichardt, for two laps in race 14, but he slipped by at the first corner on lap three and went on to record his third victory of the evening. Curoso took a lucky second behind Gene Woods (7 Up/Marushin Godd) in race 15 after leaders Ayers and Sandona tangled and went down on the final circuit. Faria took his first win of the evening in event 16 when apparent winner Cook was disqualified for losing his oil catch tank. It was an especially crushing blow for Cook as the three points he lost would have given him 12 points and put him into the final. Sandona sealed his spot in the final when he won over King in race 17. King passed Steve Lucero (Seer/ STP Wes) when the latter bobbled on lap two. The bobble proved costly as the one point Lucero lost knocked him out of a runoff for the last spot in the final with Sandona. Reichardt received an early Christmas gift from Faria in race 18. In a replay of race 11, Faria again led from the gate to turn four on the final lap when he again went sailing through the bales, giving the win to the Denver native. Robinson closed out the qualifying round in race 20 by giving a preview of things to come when he defeated Bast after a lap-one battle. Curoso had fuel tap problems on lap one and ended up coming home in fourth. The main-event pitted the top four scorers from the preliminary round with Robinson choosing the number two starting slot with Bast on the pole, Curoso in three and Sandona coming from the outside. Bast was first into the first corner with Robinson pulling even on the backchute, only to have the master forge ahead in turn three. Robinson went hard into the corner and made contact which sent Bast tumbling to the floor and brought out the red flag. Bast was excluded from the restart. On the second try Sandona got the gate, but it was the night of the "BudMan" as he passed Sandona on the backchute and went the remainder of the race unchallenged. Sandona was counting the second place money on lap three when he cramped up (a condition that was described by a few other riders to be caused by riding in the same position on the bike for four laps) and laid it down in turn three. Curoso ended up second to Robinson. After the race Robinson said, "It was something new for almost every rider here and I figured I had just as good of a chance as anyone else. It looks like I was right." • can-Am is back to win you Our new Ouad Link system with a lineup of motocrossers that delivers a true 60% rising rate is totally new! . through 320rnm of wheel travel.
