Against the scenic backdrop of the Colorado Rockies, eight motocross classes stormed the track in some super racing. In the Veteran C class, the great riding of Rich Peterson paid off as he rode to a third place in the first mota and then a first in the second mota to capture the overall. Second overall was taken by Kent Winchell, and third by Jerry Young. The Open Novice class was a runaway. Travis Fry showed the rest of the fi~ld how it's done by winning both motos to capture an undisputed overall victory. Chasing him were John Hoyt and Clarence Anderson respectively. The 12'Scc Novices provided great thrills as Tom Austin finished 1-3 for the overall. Behind Tom, Mike Ponzio was second overall with Kevin Stoman taking third. In the Pee Wee Bclass, Andy Atkins again led all riders by placing I-I in his motos to t(lke the overall. Andy was chased by Eric King, who rode to a 2-2 to take overall second. And in third place, Ty Hilderman went 3-3 to take overall third. The Mini A class was as exci ting as always. Kip Sandell took the overall with flashy racing, finishing 2-2 to capture the overall. Chasing him was Brian Brinkley, who took second overall with a 5-1 effort. Kip and Brian were followed by Kip Johnson who raced to a third overall with a 3-3 afternoon. ' The Mini B class rounded off the afternoon with no less than near spectacular racing. Scott Anderson took the overall with efforts of 6-1. He was shadowed by a steady rider named Keith Campbell with a 4-4day. Capturing third overall was Jim Swartout by turning in a 5-6 afternoon. The Berthoud Track is a tough one, with jumps, banked corners, and fast straightaways, but all the classes turned the course in typical Colorado great racing form. Results VET C: 1. Rich Peterson; 2.
