We focused our attention on dual sporting in issue 46 40 years ago. We
spotlighted the Yellow Umbrella Run. The highlight of the ride was a trip
through the yellow umbrellas scattered about the Southern California
countryside, which were erected by the one-name artist Christo... Larry
Roeseler, Ted Hunnicutt and Marty Smith made up the winning Kawasaki
team at the Baja 1000... Scott Summers
clinched the 1981 GNCC title in
Tennessee... Jean-Michel Bayle
wrapped up the Masters of Motocross
Championship in Monte Carlo.

Our cover story 20 years ago was the dispute between AMA Pro Racing
and Supercross promotor Clear Channel Motor Sports. Would the two
entities split?... The Arenacross Championship fired up at Veterans
Memorial Auditorium in Des Moines, Iowa. Tommy Hofmaster scored his
first career win Friday night. Other winners over the weekend, included
Isaiah Johnson, Josh Demuth and Darcy Lange... Shane Watts
won the Roseburg, Oregon, round of the WORCS Championship...
