Mir expected to challenge for victory but was un-
able to finish closer than five seconds to the winner
due mainly to the straight-line speed of the Ducati.
"Last year I could see some weak points," Mir said
glumly. "When they started with all that power, it
was massive. Then at the end of the race, they were
struggling to turn the bike. Also, it's logical when
you have more power, you use the tire more. But
today, I didn't see any loss of performance in the
last laps. It's the opposite. They are even stronger
on the end of the race."
POL BATTERED AND BRUISED
Honda's start to 2022 was further complicated on
Saturday morning. As well as Marc Marquez's ab-
sence for the rest of this year, Pol Espargaro will be
in far-from-ideal condition for next week's Jerez test

liked to have achieved something more

what I could to try and win the champi-

been a fantas c season thanks to an in-
credible team behind me. We won eight
races and set a record for my first year
in Moto2. I have a strange feeling now:
I won today, but not the championship,
