Beltinck: Supreme at Saddleback By Bob Alloy ORANGE, CA, AUG. 7 Temperatures were in the high 80's at Saddleback, and even hotter were 30 O ld Timers doing their favorite thing. Thirty minute motos, or 13 laps, are long so we really have to do some moving. Jim Beltinck, of Masters division and the one who puts on these Saddleback events, did everythingright and came in each time with that alwayssought-for firstplace. Blackie Lewis, always in there giving it his all, took a second in moto one, and "Movin Marv" was in there with second in moto two. Junior Master Buzz Moeller quickly overcame a midpack start and got out there to take over the lead and first place. Horst Leitner blasted away on his KTM and was good enough for a second place. Lori Watson zipped right in with third place honors. Leitner really applied the gas in the second moto, overcoming a rather unpromising start and was in for first in rnoto two. Buzz Moeller took second, and Dick Frampton followed Moeller in with third. Expert Bob DeMiranda couldn't do any wrong as he nicely wrapped up a first overall with his 1- f victory. Dan Merrit took the holeshot in moto one and was a real power. He was good for a second place in both motos. Taking third in moto one was Asher Larnkjaer and D. Young took third in moto two. Amateur Jim Cooke took the lead and was in the number one position for five laps. Bob Klatt then took the lead and went on to win. Jim held in there for second. Things were a bit different for Jim in the second moto, because once getting the lead - he just kept it, even though Klatt did all within his power to get another first. Results MASTER: 1. In other Pee Wee races, jammin' Damon Huffman won the Stock Junior race ahead of Johnny Chamberlin and jonny Biggs. On the track at the same time were the 60cc Stock Beg~J1J1er 9-~ I. ri 9-e~s .qn d they were led by Clarence Abbott who edged out Jesse James. Robbie Dunham went on to win the 80cc Stock Beginner 9-11 race as the only contestant since Huston was o~t. Charlie Jones was the Junior WInner. Matt Harrison wasn't here this time and he is about the only rider who can give Rob Sassen a good race. Sassen was the only 80cc Stock Intermediate 12 and over rider, but he played with the Juniors. Rob would let the others take off first and then he would catch up. Jammin ' JodyTapia took his Jack Greenberg-sponsored Kawasaki to the Junior win. Troy Cline of Roost Factory hurt his left knee a couple of weeks . ago and pulled out of the race, bu t he returned this time to take second place. Reisinger rises "two" the top at DeAnza MX ' By Kit Palmer SUNNYMEAD, CA, AUG. IS Dual wins by Team Montoya's Robert R eisin ger (Suz) gave the Suzuki pilot top dollar at DeAnza's motocross after battling with Scott Manning (Yam) in the 250cc Pro class and Steve Rawson (Hon) in the Opens. Reisinger's easiest win came in the Open Pro class, especially in the first moto when he flawlessly ran away with the win while Ronnie Gibson (Hon) and Rawson took second and third. In moto two, Rawson gave Reisinger an early fight but, by the mid-way point, Reisinger began pulling away en route to victory. Second went to Rawson while Gibson settled for third.
