And tha t's one reason why many racers ga the red at Corona Raceway to n ig ht to test their skill s and a bilities against fell ow rival s. O ne rider , Dal e Bollin (Kaw), manag ed an A-p lus in Div ision one of the I25cc Begin ner class. As soon as th e gate drop ped Bollin had a front-wheel lead ove r th e rest of the pack as th ey h eaded into th e firs t turn. Exiting th e turn , Bollin held onto a slim lead over L. P ro fessor (Ka w) , Greg Kopp (Yam) , Mike Smith (Ya m) and T odd Thomas (Ka w). Bollin kept th e throttle wid e open while Professor clung to hi s rear fender. Three laps into the race , Smith discovered a pas sageway by Kopp, taking over th e third sp o t. Boll ing crossed th e fin ish line first , ah ead of Professo r , Smith and Thomas. A huge first turn pile-u p ca used a second mota resta rt . The second time a ro u n d it was agai n Bollin wh o sn a tc h ed the holes hot. P ro fesso r trailed in seco nd , bu t the re was no catch in g Bo llin. Bollin took th e win a head of Professor, Ken Co leman (Suz) and Kop p .
