TE YEA S AGO nadilla was the scene of the fou rt h ro und of the In ter-AMA Motocross Series. When the muck settled, the scoreboard recorded the vict ory of Swede Arne Lin dfors (Yam). L in dfors finished in the runner-up slot b o t h times, topping Yamaha mounted Gary J ones' 3-3. Torsten Hall m an (Yam) won the first rno to , but was held to fifth in the seco nd ro u nd for third overall. Seco n d mo to win ner Torlie£ Hansen (Hus) record ed a DN F for his o th er moto and di d not fi g u re in the top placings . The U n adilla outcome left the seri es tied, with Am ericans and Europeans havin g each recorded two overall wins. In the 500cc National class, it wa s Dewa yn e Jones (Yam ), Gary Chaplin (Mai) and James Shotten (CZ) 1-2-3. Ma rk Blackwell (Hus) placed third overa ll in an international motocross in Wes t German y. Placing ahead of the Am erican were German Ma ico rider Adolph Weil arid Ake Jonsson; th ose fin ish in g behind him in cluded defen d in g 500cc World MX Cha m p Bengt Aberg (Hus). R kie Ex pe rt Gary Scott and his T riu m p h were nearly untouchable e route to wi n n in g the Castle Rock TT Na tional , his first National vic tory. Mark Williams (Tri) wa s the ear ly leader, bu t then Scott, a n d la ter Jim Rice (BSA) got by. Tom Wh ite (T ri) wo n the 15-lap Junior race. It took th ree sta rt s to finally get the weekly Ascot half mile Expert ma in e:vent goi n g, but the wait proved worth wh ile to DeWayn e Keeter (H D), wh o won. Rick Newby (T ri) and John Gennai (Yam), d id likewise in th e J u ni o r and Novice mains, respe ctively. T he AFM held a purse race at O CIR, an d some big n a mes in road racing were on hand to battle for th e cash. teve McLaughlin (Hon ) seemed to h ave the upper hand in the Open Pro race, but lost h orsepower in the fina l laps and watched as Ron Pierce (Yam ) went on for the win. In the 250cc Pro even t, Daytona winner Don Emde (Yam ) took th e race over Howard Lyn gaard (Yam). Tim Hart took a pair of Maicos to top placings at CM C' s Ascot nigh t m o tocross, winning the 250 an d 500cc Expe rt classes. In the 250cc class, Bob H osford finish ed second on th e Bill Bell -p rep ped Honda XL four-stroke. J.N. Roberts (Hus) won th e Open Ama teu r/ Expert class at th e Ram s M.C. D-37 European Scrambles. Larry Pfu tzenreu ter (Bul) turned in a sim ilar performa n ce in the 250cc Am ateur/Expert race, while policeman G en e Cannady (DKW) wa s to ps a mon g th e Division Two Amateurs a n d Experts. And in the race for the more advanced among the Trailbik e crowd, Larry Roeseler (H-D) was the first across th e line. At a USMR C motocross at El Toro, CA, Dennis Sigalos (Hod) wa s the winn er in th e second di vision of 100cc J u ni ors. Also doing well a t tha t ra ce was Bryan Breker, who wo n the 250 and 500cc Expert classes. 5
