Turner for fwo af CMCAscof By Tom Corley GARDENA, CA, JUNE 16 The third Wednesday of th e month happen s to be the Continental Mo ta -sports Club P ro points n igh t at Asco t, and to. night at Ascot, and tonight th e racing was special. The best of the loot fell into the hands of Honda support rider Ron Turner who shoved the local riders around and went home with the 250 and 500cc Pro class wins. Turner was also a top contender in the l25cc P ro class, but Premier Yamaha 's Todd Peterson beat him by four points for that important win. Yamaha-mounted Mike Beier makes the trip to Ascot for this special night every month, and Mike got the jump on all of th e hotshoes in the first moto of the l 25cc Pro race. Turner and Devon Farley on his new Kawasaki were second and third till Peterson passed Farl ey after half a lap. Peterson and T u rner were having their week ly grudge match, and Peterson kicked it off tonigh t when he sl id by Turner in th e corner before the TT jump. Turn er di dn't like that a bit, so he wicked it up and ran Todd of the track in the sweeper. Peterson made yet another at tempt to take over second place, but hefell in the corner before the finish . So it was Beier, Turner and Peterson . Beier was on his way to the winner's circle as he led the final moto, but Peterson got wild in the air on the last crash wa ll j u m p and hit Beier. Beier went down, but Peterson grabbed the lead . Mike Nish ita was having a great ride and was behind Peterson for most of the time till "Radical Ron " made th e p ass and it became a Peterson versus Turner race. Turner wasn't able to cook up one of his fin e passes so Peterso n took the first wave of the checkered flag. Overall it was Peterson, Turner and Beier. • Results 50 JR: t .
