In the O ver The Hill Gang Expert class, ' Ca pital chapter's Scra p Iron Sco tt p ulled off to an ea r ly lead in mo ta one wi th Pass 'em Up Pa ul from Cap ital ru n n ing a strong second. Sierr a 's Rich ard Buttner was ho lding on to third bu t not with ou t a good figh t from Sturdy Steve from Capital in fourth. The finest ride of th e whole race was by L.A. 's Absurd Al Olson who got off the line in 22nd p lace in the. first mota. Al was really puttin g on a show, a nd by the en d h e had wo rked hi s way up to fifth p lace, mak in g some fantastic passes and reall y flyin ' down the steep do wn h ill , passing riders a t will. Alan di dn't make th e same mi stake in mo ta two as he p osted the win to give h im th ird overall for the two days. Ca pital's Scra p Iron · Sco tt took firs t ove rall with Ri chard Buttner pu tting in a good secon d mot a ride for second overall. L.A . chapter's Din ky Denny took the overall win in the Ama teur cla ss bu t didn 't have it easy as Dumpin ' Da n from th e Vegas chapter was battli ng with him all the way . Dan wo n mo to one as h e and Den ney were stalking each other th ro ugh the en tire mota . Fred Wrigh t from Was h ington p u t in 6-3 fin ish es to outdo Mo to r Mike from Capita l for thi rd spot. Majestic Ma jeske from Vegas rounded ou t the top five finishers. The Intermedia te class was the closest racing as it came do wn to the last race of th e day for fir st pl ace. Wash ingto n' s Mi ke Doherty , L. A.' s Ja u n d ice John and the North 's Cu n n in' Curt all h ad go od ba ttles going on in all fou r rnotos, Doherty had the mos t consisten t scorin g a nd h eld on for first overall. T he race for second a nd th ird was deci ded by one point between Joh n a nd Cu rt , as Cur t really tu rn ed on the ga s with 1-1 mota fin ishes the seco nd day . L.A.'s T om Rafalske and Maico Mi ke battled . each o the r for four th and fifth spo ts with a lot of riders exchan ging positions in th e p ro cess. Congratula tions go ou t to Sierra cha p ter of th e Over The H ill Gang for captu ri ng th e team trophy this year.
