LOOKING BACK
Mike Kidd was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago for
wrapping up the GNC/Winston Pro Series Championship at Ascot Park.
Kidd finished five points ahead of Gary Scott... Round two of the AMA
Trans-USA MX Series was held at RedBud, where Mile Bell took the
overall win with a pair of second-place finishes. Danny Chandler won
the 500cc support race... We showed you some of the new 1982 models
from Honda, including the new water-cooled 750cc V45 Sabre.
We featured the Oklahoma City National on the cover of Cycle News 50
years ago. The Junior class was pictured, and Kenny Roberts went on to
win the main event. Gene Romero won the GNC main event... The Trans-
AMA Motocross Series visited Turtle Park MX in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, where
AJS-mounted Doug Grant out-dueled Tim Hart for the 250cc Expert-class
win... We showed you Wild Bill Geibke's world's largest motorcycle, which
was powered by four-cylinder Chevy engine.
