"The bike felt like it was on the
speed limiter all the way through
the first section of race two, then
it freed up, and then it started
again down the straight, getting
worse each lap," Laverty said. "I
could have told myself that there
was a problem with the bike and
just settled, but instead I tried
to get Jonathan [Rea] and make
up the places. I made a mistake
because I was overriding it. My
third crash this year and two have
been in races."

just not enough to catch Sykes
for his first win of 2013. Although
the luckless Rea is still fast and
committed, he only has three podiums to his name in 2013.
Marco Melandri hoisted his
home flag with no real brio for
BMW Motorrad GoldBet, but he
used a lot of guile to earn two
