INTERVIEW P82 WORLD SUPERBIKE DIRECTOR DANIEL CARRERA nical regulations of the top class in Superbikes. There will be an SBK commission meeting at the Barcelona GP and we would like there to close the agreement between the MSMA and the SBK commission. Completely. What we have agreed is a general proposal and now we have several documents specifying several ideas of how to control the costs of suspension, brakes… this is what we would like to approve in Catalunya next week, Friday, and starting form this point we would like to start to write the final technical regulations. What about smaller engine classes for Asia and other new markets, as that seems to be the kind of bikes they are selling in those markets? We have had this conversation with manufacturers and have said to them, 'tell us what is interesting for you?' We have talked about possibilities… like why not to do a Max-scooter race as a support class, because what you are selling in Europe is the Max-scooter – the new T-Max, the new BMW scooter. We are exploring this possibility, but there is nothing certain. In fact we proposed this and they did not like it. But we are open to this. Can the schedule expand in numbers or is 15 the ideal number? I think 15 is the number. We do not see any sense in having two races in Spain, two races in Italy, two in Britain. What about the future racetracks, because World Superbike races can be held on category B tracks, but GPs have to run on A tracks? For us it makes no sense that there are two types of homologation. If you homologate for MotoGP, then it should be valid for Superbike and in the best way. An Aprilia Superbike is much faster than an Aprilia CRT, so in terms of safety it is the same. We are making changes on the technical regulations and there may be an impact on the performance of the bikes, but maybe it is one second, so it makes no difference. But things like Monza, we would like to respect the contract, which is one year more, but it is not only the safety it is the race management. It is the chicanes they can cut and that makes it very complicated. Will there be more races in conjunction with MotoGP, or try to use Superbike in countries where there will not be MotoGP? The situation is that in Qatar, for example, they know us and they know the way of working of Dorna. They are confident that we will make a good job with Superbike and there are some synergies between the partners in MotoGP and now they also want to be involved with World Super-
