Oregon Dirt Bowl COOS BAY , ORE ., May 6 , 1973 - T he speedway at Ken -Kel Park h ad it s opening race of the season on a newly graded quarter- mile banked dirt o val , wh ich is desti ned to : be paved for au to racing in t he near fu ture. T he high banking provided a un ique experience for area fla t-trackers and so me very quic k la p times. Fast time of th e day was 18.2 seconds, turned b y Curt D am on a 250cc Bultaco which netted him an award o f $2 5. Fast time for th e Li ghtweigh t Division (und e r 200cc) went to Mik e Ro mi g o n a 125 cc Yamaha. Comments in the pits were th at fair ings and clip -o ns would be the h ot setup.
