As far as lo cal ride rs go , th is leaves the S RA somewhat straddling th e fen ce , be cause it is possib le th at some season point races will require m embershi p , and so me won 't. But to a maj o rity o f the board, co m p o sed of a represen ta tive fro m each club , the -two non-strad d ling alterna tives we re re p ugnant: i.c. to co n tin ue to require everyone to join; or to prohib it a memb e r clu b fro m getting an AMA san ction. The m aj o ri ty view was th a t the body can no longer justi fy re q ui ring a racer to join , in view o f the ra ise in m embershi p fees, and m o stl y in view o f th e ch ange in m edical ins u rance d ed uctible to S1,000, which man y vie w as no in surance at a ll.
