And Foggy Dew en M By James Bra mmer PETALUMA, CAL., May 20 , 19 72 - It rained on the Worl d's Wrist Wrestling Championships - an d the m o to rcycle scrambles in Pe talum a Saturday night. The scrambles of the TT type a t Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds were halted by a surprise rai n w ith less than half of the finals completed. T h e surface of th e tr ack is black clay that is slick for motorcycles under n o rm al ni ght air m o istu re , and so slick tha t a man can hardly stand up on it when it is wet. A foggy mist caused numerous spills beginning with the start of the finals. In the 125 Novice final, Bill Shura from Napa fell in the first comer taking down five riders including Bill Bisel, Bisel is a Cycle West rider who has been getting up to three class wins a nigh t a t other tracks and should be a hero here on his home tow n track. . . Both Bisel and Shura we re ab le to return fo r the restart won by Chris Hudson . Again, and while in second pl ac e Bisel went down . This time , h e crossed up coming out o f a sweeper comer headed up a jump ramp . ' He w as al one wh en he fell, but a rider coming fro m beh ind could n ot get by without hitting Bisel hard. The race w as st op ped with Shura ge t tin g seco nd and Lenny S oderquist in third . Bisel walked fr om t he spill bu t hurting. The fin als progressed through the 250 Novice class befo re being called be cause o f rai n an d eve n th ose run wer e cu t sh ort because of spill s. Expert classe s were run in sing le hea ts wi th I I rid ers st arting the 25 0 class. Larry Drew ra n .o ff with th e 250 heat lead, but w as held back to fourth in th e 650 class.
