The pro gram was just b ar el y started when Mik e Russell w ent down in the 25 0 heat a nd was ta ken to the hospital wi th an an k le b roken in th ree ~ pl ac es. Arizona. Track conditions were a little rough in some spots. Sonne y , the track operator promises to change a nd resurface the track very shortly. In t h e second 100 Novice Main event Ric k Snap took the lead as if on a Sunday drive but soon fou nd Kerry Lo negran winding up his Yamaha a ft er t hree laps and zapped Snap going ove r the j u m p . T his piece of action gave Kerry the wi n. T he 10 0 Amateur Expert ra ce st a rt ed wi t h R ic k Franklin leading the gro up. On the seco nd lap Ed Blo se went to the Said insid e over the j ump. com in g from third pl ace to first. Is th is the y ear of the Os sa? Before the 125 Expert race it was Ron Adam 's mo th er p at iently d o ing a n Ascot tire cutting j o b o n Junior 's rear-tire with plenty of supervisio n from other pit crews. Ron usually w ins bu t this time Larry Barrington 's stock bike (that means it isn't a 250) was t oo fas t for Ron. Hey Mother, fix Ron's engine and give Dad a rest. The)T riders will have a change of p ace by riding the motocross track April 30. They are going to w hop the regular motocross riders they think!
