Right. 1 had been so intent on survival 1 hadn't even seen her. After the run 1 talked to a lot of guys who agreed that the schedules were pretty slow and they like it just fine! Apparently after the last few really tough runs the guys are ready for something a bit easi er . The marking on the course was very well done. The wind that I mentioned earlier blew away all the lime and destroyed most of the arrows but there was enough ribbon tied so that it was never difficult to find your way. Some of the better riders complained that the check placement was off in several spots and I think one check has been p rotested, b ut some riders have so me very low scores, which makes it imp rob ab le that the check-distances were very far off. It's pretty difficult to pick a winner on a run like this. There were many scores in the neighborhood of 5 and 6 and rumors of several even lower. Bud Howesman reportedly had a score of 0 at the beginning of the third loop and finished with about 3 points lost, but there was a rumor of another fellow who only lost I, total. CERA's next effort is the Golden Rear 200 mi ler . This run is already becoming something of a classic in Southern California, except that it 's likely to die an early death unless Ed Wight gets a bit of help. Belonging to CERA and paying yo ur entry fees is great but it takes a few warm bodies to p ut on a run. Everybody that rides the enduros ought to figure on working on at least one of them each year in some capacity. Either that or figure on having endures develop like motocross has here in South ern California . If yo u want hi gh entry fees, short rides and character-less runs just leave it up to the guys who see it as a neat way to make a buck. Results in a week or two. ..
