REPEAT; RAPP OUTLASTS 125ers Tom Ra pp (Bul) took charge of the 125 Pro s an d his overall win was never in doubt after a brief bout with a slide o ut in the in itial ro un d while leading . He picked up th e race in third an d quickly regained lost ground. J eff Wright (Puc) p opped into the lead in ro und two and p opp ed out of it again after two laps when Car l Cranke (Pen) too k over until Rap p got by. Bruce Baron (Pen) battled h is way through the ranks to take second. as he did in the first. Rapp took th e point in the final round on lap two and won easily. Baron mo ved up to second and one point o nly to eventually fin ish fourth. Young Billy Grossi (DKW) ral1ied with a pair of fourths in the firs t tw o motos an d ' fin ish ed third in th e finale to take third o verall behind Baro n. Kevin Henry (Pen) grabbed fo urth after a fine second in t he last race. Cranke was the most impressive rider in Saturday's Sportsm an program with a 125 Expert win and a second b ehind Gr eg Robertson in th e 250. Rich Urie won the 500. In the A mateur races, Danny Turner sho wed up with the init ial race for a new Swedish MCB. He topped the 125 class three times and took second overall behind Cranke in the co mbined p ro gram. Danny rode Sunday in t he 125 Pro but got sick a fter the first m o t o and cal led it a day. A nother proto- type also showed up both days. A 12 5-Hodaka. It's r ider , Jim No ble, had tro uble with the mud ho le on Saturday an d couldn't get the ex perimental m o del going up to par on Sunday . However , while it was going good. ma ny spectato rs were imp ressed with its p o wer . It looks like Hodaka will de fin it ely have somethin g h ere when the bugs ar e all work~~_out la ter this ye ar . S everal riders wer e hu rt ove r th e two-day sp an . In th e first race of the Su nday show, Dave Rodgers (Bul) got off hard w hile leading and is rep orted to have broken his leg. In the 25 0 Pro . Greg Hubbs of Nevada City. Nev. went over and broke both legs. Last report was that he was undergoing surgery. N o report as to his co nditio n.
