Such as 125 Ex pert Ernie Hendrich's total domi nation to h is class for the second race in a row. Expert Frank Fruciano rode the 125 and 250 classes and got a second in both . He and Tusconian Sam Redmen had the race of the year in the third mo to of the 25 0 Expert bash, dueling wheel to wheel for four laps. The first 250 h eat had to be restarted after Joe Sa lem (Yam) went down hard in t he first turn. After regain ing his breath, he was able to restart with th e rest of th e rid ers. After two restarts (one caused b y Pa t Cr aig's h and leb ars ge tti ng st uck in t he rear w heel of J ak e Warr en's Hod aka) th e 10 0 cc final was won by Rich ard Morris (Suz) . George " Lizard" Larzelere (Bul) ad d ed a lit t le pizaz to the 20 0 fina l when he wrap ped a sand bag up in his rear w heel and spread sand ' all over the track. This race, aft er a restart and a tr ack cleaning, was won by Rhett Wilder. Bodie Craig wo n th e t rophy dash as well as th e wheelie co n test. li e showed the cro wd a wild, feet-down wheelie lasting for five laps around the track. More races are scheduled for the future in the Coliseum and everyone is looking forward to these excitement-promising events . (Results on page 56) AMA CLUBS, OFF ICIALS AND DEAL~RS HONORED DUR ING DAYTONA SPEEDWEEK Camaraderie in Colorado During t his year's Daytona Classics the American Moto rcycle Association hosted an awa rds ceremo ney at Peabody A uditorium to honor the outstanding efforts of many of its members. The Salinas Ramb lers Motorcycle Coub of Salinas , California, won the AMA's most co vet ed club hono r - the 1971 Club of the Year Award. The Ramb lers have been actively involved in improving mo to rcycling 's public im age since 1934. They are mo st no ted for th eir ann ual ce reb ral p alsey b en efit scrambles which in the past 10 years has ne tted more th an 562 ,000 for the fu nd. Mrs . Betty Snyder of Lebanon, Pennyslvania , a h ou sew ife and moth er of t hree, was named a s t h e AMA's Typical Girl Rid er fo r 1971. It was n't spectacular and didn't have big name riders or even a P.A. system. It was, however, ty pical of the racing so common to Co lora d o .
