Jim Beauchamp 's win in the CMC's 125
Expert column Sunday wa s most significant;
it wa s the first win for the as -vet-unpubfi cized
Harley-Davidson Motocross Team. The team
will consist of 16-year-old Beauchamp and
desert star Terry Clark.
Beauchamp fin ished fifth overall in the
CMe's 1971 point standings as 12S Expert
and will make a full-blown attempt at the
CMC Number One plate this year with
com plete backing of the Milwaukee factory .
Clark, 18, won the Number One plate for
H·D

motocross events.
Dean Goldsm ith . who won the recent
Mex ican 1000 along with Clark on a 100cc
Baja. will handle all the t uning chores.
The bike is bu ilt in Ita ly by Aeremacch i,
who manufacture t he Ba ja and Sprint for
H-D. The engine was previewed several
months ago in a Cycle News interview with
Clark. It is a Golden Wing 125 , an extremely
successful road racing mill.
Clark is currently running a mo unt with a
spec ially-built Cheney frame. The frame
Bea uch amp used for his win Sunday is a stock
end uro-type model made in Italy. Anot her
one has been shipped for Clark to cam paign
on soon.
