ROUND 11 / SEPTEMBER 4, 2021 FOX RACEWAY / PALA, CALIFORNIA P60 MOTOCROSS I LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP wins here late in the season." Tomac, who will be parting ways with Monster Energy Kawa- saki after this weekend's Hang- town finale, did not have a win in the first nine rounds of the 12-race Lucas Oil Pro Motocross tour. While the 450cc-class champi- onship is now settled, the 250cc title remains up for grabs going into the 12th and final round. However, for the second straight weekend, Team Honda's Jett Lawrence was simply unstoppable. The 18-year- old Australian swept both motos again, taking two more steps towards claiming his first profes- sional championship. "I think everything just fell into place [today]," said Lawrence, who now holds an added dozen more points to his lead over Coincidentally, the rider who won Saturday's 450cc race, Tomac, will be joining Ferrandis on the Star Racing Yamaha team when his Monster Energy Kawa- saki contract expires on October 1. Tomac has three 450cc MX titles already to his credit and started out slowly in his last campaign with Kawasaki, but has picked up speed and a handful of wins as the series winds down. "I just felt so good in moto two," said Tomac after his dominant effort clinched him his second straight overall win with 2-1 moto finishes. "I was a little back in the beginning but was able to really make passes and got the job done early. It's really fun to be out there when I'm in the zone like that and it's great to get a couple MYOWNRACE 94 KEN ROCZEN 4TH (3-6) 450MX "This weekend at Fox Raceway was tough," Roczen said. "I haven't really been feeling like myself with my energy level the last couple of weekends, which have been the ho est rounds of the year. Those two things together don't mix well. A er a tough first moto, I really just tried to maintain and not override anything, because I knew I was super fa gued from the beginning. I ended up throwing up try- ing to make a late-race charge past Tomac, which definitely depleted me even more. I have a history of fain ng when I throw up, so it was a li le scary for a second, but we picked it back up in the last lap to secure third in that moto. In the second moto, I had absolutely nothing le , so we finished sixth. Not an ideal weekend, but I'm just glad we made it through the day." 30 JO SHIMODA 4TH (4-3) 250MX "Today was a tough one but I tried to have fun out there," said Jo Shimoda. "In qualify- ing I was able to get third and got a good start in moto one. I just took too much me to make passes and didn't have a chance to go for third. I had someone crash in front of me at the start of the second moto, so it felt like I had to pass the whole field going through that first lap. Bummed we didn't get on the overall podium, but we're look - ing to close out the season strong and try and get up to fi h in the standings." Cooper Webb (2) is also finding his outdoor form but comes too late in the 450MX Championship. He got on the podium for the second race in a row.
