was and is his favored tactic, see
how fast they go, match them,
then push on with a relatively
conserved set of tires.
Race one runner-up Steven
Odendaal (Evan Bros Yamaha)
was strong in the early stages
but after an impressive show-
ing all through practice by local
boy Manuel Gonzalez (ParkinGo
Yamaha) it was looking for a
time like a first win for the teen-
age star. He would crash out,
however, after a big high-side,
dislocating his shoulder and go-
ing on the "unfit" medical list to
miss Sunday's race. It was poor
fortune for a potential star rider at
his home track.
Third in race one was another
up-and-comer, Luca Bernardi
(CM Racing Yamaha), who was
just half a second back from
Odendaal.
Jules Cluzel (GMT94 Yamaha)
was just a second from the Race
One podium, and the resurgent
Federico Caricasulo (Biblion
Iberica Yamaha Motoxracing)
fifth.
Philipp Ottl (Kawasaki Puccetti
Racing) would be top Kawasaki
in seventh in race one, struggling
in the heat and with a less than
perfect set-up.
Aegerter and Odendaal had
a great fight for much of race
two, with the South African rider
showing real grid and spirit, until
Aegerter punched on into a lead
that would give him the win.
It was all over a bot to early,
really.
A scary fast T1 crash from a lo-
cal wildcard and then red flag as
parts of his bike were still in the
gravel, saw the race called on
lap 15, with Aegerter, Odendaal
and Bernardi again the podium
finishers.
Caricasulo was fourth, Clu-
zel just behind in what is a quiet
grudge match, after Caricasulo left
the GMT94 squad earlier this year.
Sixth for Ottl was achieved on
a much better bike set-up, but
it was not a day for Kawasaki
podiums.
Now Aegerter has 257 points,
Odendaal 210, and Ottl 156.
