VOLUME 58 ISSUE 30 JULY 27, 2021 P65 HUFFMAN REMEMBERED This was the first Washougal Na- tional held since the passing of long- time event promoter Ralph Huffman, who died in March at the age of 83 after contracting Covid-19. Huffman was remembered with a moment of silence and honored on the event's beautiful wood-carved trophies. Washougal also unveiled a beauti- ful monument carved in stone and featuring Huffman on his bulldozer. SWOLL CRASHED OUT Jalek Swoll, who won a 250MX National earlier in the season, was helped off the track and back to the pits after going down in the first turn in the first moto. Swoll (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) did not return for moto two, but he later said that he's okay. "I got ran over," he said. "I think I came away with a little ding to the head but it's all good. We'll take the break to recover and get back to it at Unadilla." 2-SMOKER BROWN BBR Motorsports' Carson Brown qualified 21st (combined) aboard a Husqvarna TC 250, the only two-stroke motorcycle in the race. Brown, who hails from nearby Ra- venswood, Washington, had injured his shoulder earlier in the week. He finished 18th in the first moto but then decided to sit out the second moto. THE GENERAL RETURNS "The General" Ryan Sipes came out to the Pacific Northwest to race not only the Washougal National but also the Thursday evening race for Briefly... Ferrandis keeps padding his points lead with every race as of late. He's sitting pretty with a now 47-point cushion over second place. 2021 Washougal Pro Motocross Highlights
