Musquin held second but tipped over with two laps to go, handing second to Tomac. Still, it was the best ride so far this sum- mer for the veteran Frenchman. "I felt like I was riding really good towards the end, but I tried to push hard to make a gap on [Tomac] and unfortunately the front went away on me, and I climbed up and into a berm and went down," said Musquin. "I felt like I should have that race," said Tomac who had his best first moto of the season. "The way the crowd was shouting for me out there, it was really giving me some energy. I got a little bit of luck there at the end with Marvin tipping over, but we'll take it." Barcia ended up fourth, but he held off Ferrandis through- out the moto. Both passed the went past Roczen, as well. Sexton was eight seconds ahead after 20 minutes and was never seriously challenged. Afterwards, he credited the moto win with all of the practice starts he's been doing, as well as an improvement to the bike. "We found something with the motor that got me out of the launch better," said Sexton. "And my practice start right before the moto was really good, so I'm like, if I could do that one more time, we'll be out front. And then I crushed the start—my first holeshot in Pro Motocross—so it was just an awesome ride. It was a lot of fun to be up there by myself. It felt like I was just out there riding by myself at the practice track. I saved a lot of energy, too."
