ROUNDS 5-6/JUNE 22-23, 2014
BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK/LEEDS, ALABAMA
AMA SUPERBIKE
P70
AMA NATIONAL GUARD SUPERBIKE SERIES
Hayes celebrates
his sweep of
the two races at
Barber.
Briefly...
win by a Honda rider at an AMA
Pro road race in two years. Benny
Solis's Supersport win at Laguna
Seca in 2011 was the last time a
Honda won.
Steve Rapp earned his fourth
career Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series win Sunday at Barber. That moved him past Michael
Barnes into fourth on the all-time
series wins list. Tyler O'Hara leads
the XR1200 all-time wins with six,
followed by Kyle Wyman and Chris
Fillmore with five each.
Danny Eslick ran a sticker on the
back of his helmet honoring recently passed stock car and sprint
car driver Jason Leffler. "I'm a big
dirt track guy and a fan of anyone
who goes back to their grassroots
and do what they love to do," Eslick
said. "It's definitely a sad thing and I
just wanted to run a sticker in honor
of him."
of mistakes still, but fortunately
I did it in areas that maybe give
up a little time, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's easy to get by
you. Fortunately it was enough."
The series moves to Mid-Ohio
Sports Car Course with Hayes
clearly the rider to beat. Barber
showed that Hayden has vastly
improved as the season's progressed and Herrin seems to be
gaining in confidence as well.
The trend for series leader
Cardenas is troubling, however.
He finished off the podium for
the first time this season in race
two at Barber and while he would
never openly admit it, when talking with him you get the distinct
feeling that he and the Yoshimura team are all over the board
searching for a setup combination that will make him competitive with Hayes.
