VOL. 50 ISSUE 25 JUNE 25, 2013 P69 Briefly... admitting that's still an issue, Herrin said he felt some significant improvement in Sunday's race. "As you could see I still need to work on how fast I go when I get in the lead," Herrin said. "I was trying my hardest and that's all you can ask for. The middle of the race is what I need to work on. I seem to be decent at the beginning then fall off in the middle and seem to regroup and do pretty good in the end. I just need to go home and work on my fitness a little bit more. I was happy today [Sunday] that I was able to be in front without a carrot in front of me and be able to pull away from Martin [Cardenas] and Danny [Eslick] behind me. "I was driving it as hard as I could, trying to push it until everybody's tires were junk and hopefully at the end no one's able to make any moves. I was trying to pick my lines smart where I didn't make a lot of mistakes. It got pretty greasy. His next victory in the class will tie him with Danny Eslick for third on the all-time wins list. Josh Herrin is second in career DSB wins at 14. It's very likely that Beaubier will move past him to that spot this season. Martin Cardenas is the all-time class wins leader with 24.
